Sweets --- Simple Sarkarai Pongal

SARKARAI PONGAL (using pressure cooker method)



Ingredients:-

Raw rice = 1 cup

Jaggery = 1 cup or 1 and 1/4 cup ( adjust as per your taste)

Water = 3 cups

Ghee = 1/4 cup

Cahews = 15 nos (cut into pieces)

Elachi powder = 3 tsp


Method:-


(1) Wash and soak the raw rice for 20 mins.

(2) In a pan boil 3 cups of water and add jaggery,

(3)   Filter the jaggery straight into a pressure cooker and add soaked rice, elachi powder.

(4) Pressure cook for 3  whistles in medium to high mode ( that is not sim and not too high).

(5) In a small pan, Fry the cahsews  in ghee

(6) Add the fried cahews to the cooked sarkarai pongal.

(7) Simple Sarkarai pongal is ready to serve…
