Ingredients:
Tomato –
2
Onion –
1
Moong
dhall – 50 g
Red
chilly powder or sambar powder – 1 tsp
To grind
Grated
coconut – 2 tsp
Broken
channa dhal – 1 tsp
Cumin
seeds – 1 tsp
For Seasoning
Mustard
– ½ tsp
Urad
dhall – ½ tsp
Method:
Pressure cook Moong dhall, sliced
tomatoes, Manathakkali keerai up to two whistles on high flame. Grind the
ingredients given and keep aside. Take a pan and add oil. Add mustard and let
it splutter, add urad dhall and sauté till it turns golden brown. Add the
chopped onions and fry till it turns golden brown. Open the pressure cooker and
add the contents to the pan. Add sambar powder or red chilly powder, grinded mixture and salt. Cook for 3 minutes
and serve.
People who need to avoid coconut can
skip the ingredients to grind and can add paste of rice flour mixed with water
and little milk to get thick consistency of the kootu.
