Onion - Tomato Chutney

CHUTNEY VARITIES:-
It  also tastes better with Broken wheat Upma, Finger Millet idly, Finger millet dosa.

Onion - Tomato Chutney:-


Ingredients:

Oninon = 2 nos.

Tomato = 1

Red Chilly = 2 ( add more or less as per your taste)

Salt to taste.

Oil = 1 tsp

For Seasoning:

Oil --- 2 tsp, Mustard seeds --- 1 tsp, Urid dal --- 1 tsp,

chopped curry leaves --- 10 nos., Asafoetida powder - 1/4 tsp


Method:-

 Slice the onion and tomato separately.

 Heat a pan with 1 tsp oil and fry the red chillies and remove from the pan. In the same pan, add onions and saute. When the onions turns to light colour add the tomatoes and a little salt. Once the tomatoes are cooked, remove it from the flame and allow it to cool.

 In a mixie, add the chillies first and then add the onion- tomato and grind it ( not to a fine paste, a litlle crunchy). Remove it and store it in a bowl.

 In a small pan, heat oil, and add mustard seeds. Let is splutter, then add urid dal, let it change its colour to golden brown. Switch off the flame and add curry leaves and perungayam. And pour this seasoning on top of the chutney and mix it well.

 Chutney is ready
