INGREDIENTS:
Broken Rice – 200g
Onion – 1
Green chilly
– 2
Coriander
leaves - handful
For Seasoning:
Oil – 1 tsp
Mustard
seeds – ½ tsp
Cumin –
½ tsp
Urad dhal –
½ tsp
Bengal gram
– 1 tsp
Pepper corns
– 5
Curry leaves
METHOD:
1.
Take a pressure pan and add
oil.
2.
Add mustard, cumin and after it splutters add
urad dhal, bengal gram, pepper corns and curry leaves. Saute for a minute till
the bengal gram turns golden brown.
3.
Add onion and chilly and saute
for 2 minutes.
4.
Add 500ml of water to the
pan and allow it to boil.
5.
When the water starts
bubbling add the rice and stir well till it is half cooked.
6.
Add salt and coriander
leaves and close the pan.
7.
Allow it for 2 whistles on
high flame and switch of the cooker.
8.
After the pressure is
relased, stir the uppuma and close the lid and allow it to standby for 2
minutes.
9.
Now tasty rice uppuma or
Arisi Uppuma is ready
Traditional way of doing arisi uppuma needs lot of oil while done using Kadai. Pressure cookers are handy since less oil can be used and the preparation time will be less
